Our services

Fireplace and chimney care for the Santa Clarita Valley

Most SCV homes have a gas fireplace or a factory-built unit inside a stucco chimney box, while older Newhall homes still have brick. We service all of them.

Spark Arrestors & Caps

Fine stainless netting stops sparks escaping the flue and wind-blown ones dropping in. It matters most in canyon neighborhoods and during Santa Ana wind season.

  • Stainless spark arrestor screens
  • Caps sized for prefab and masonry flues
  • Bird and rain protection too

Prefab & Stucco Chase Repair

The stucco boxes around factory-built fireplaces crack, and their metal tops rust. Water then gets into the framing. We repair the chase and replace the cover.

What we find in Santa Clarita fireplaces

Rust streaks on stucco

Flat chase covers hold water and rust, leaving orange streaks down the chimney box.

Cracked refractory panels

The firebox liners in prefab units crack with age and need replacing with the correct listed parts.

Gas fireplaces that won't stay lit

Dirty pilots, worn thermocouples and dust-clogged burners are common after a summer of sitting idle.

Old quake patches

Brick chimneys repaired quickly after 1994 sometimes have cracks or loose tops that were never fully fixed.

A fire-season checklist for your chimney

Before the Santa Anas start blowing, run through these four steps. They help protect your home from the fire inside the fireplace and from the fires outside.

STEP 1

Screen the top

Fit a spark arrestor with fine stainless mesh, and replace any rusted or torn screen.

STEP 2

Clear around it

Trim branches back from the chimney and clear leaves from the roof and gutters nearby.

STEP 3

Seal the gaps

Repair cracked stucco, flashing and chase covers so embers and rain can't get into the framing.

STEP 4

Skip windy-day fires

Don't burn wood during Red Flag warnings or strong Santa Ana winds. Embers carry a long way.

Hearths & mantels

New stone hearths and mantel ledges to match the refacing.

Block wall repair

Cracked, leaning and quake-damaged block walls between yards repaired or rebuilt.

Pillars & caps

Stone and block pillars for gates and driveways, with matching caps.

FAQ

Santa Clarita fireplace questions

Have your own question? Call (661) 476-2510.

What does a spark arrestor actually do?

It's a stainless mesh screen on top of the chimney or flue. It stops hot embers from leaving the chimney and drifting onto shingles or chaparral, and it keeps out birds and debris. In wildfire country like the Santa Clarita canyons, it's one of the most useful upgrades you can make.

Why won't my gas fireplace stay lit?

The most common causes are a dirty pilot assembly, a worn thermocouple or thermopile, or dust and spider webs in the burner after months of sitting unused. A service visit cleans and tests these parts and checks the venting.

What's a stucco chase and why does mine have rust stains?

Many SCV homes have a factory-built fireplace with a metal flue inside a wood-framed box finished in stucco. The sheet-metal lid capping that box tends to corrode and holds water, which leaves streaks and can leak into the framing. A sloped stainless cover fixes it.

Was my chimney affected by the Northridge earthquake?

The 1994 Northridge earthquake damaged many masonry chimneys across the valley. Some were rebuilt and some were only patched. If your home has an older brick chimney, an inspection will show whether there are cracks, a loose top or separation from the house.

Can you put stone on my existing fireplace?

Usually, yes. Stone veneer can be applied over most existing surrounds, and we can add a new hearth and mantel ledge to match.

Should I burn wood on windy days?

No. During Red Flag warnings and strong Santa Ana winds it's safest not to burn wood at all, since embers can travel a long way even with a screen.

What are your hours?

Our crews are out six days a week, Monday to Saturday, from 7 in the morning until 7 at night. Sundays off.
